I agree with Joe.
Instead of granting dba, resource or connect I use my
own system roles, for example all my db have those :
db_readonly => create session
db_session => alter session, create session
db_owner => all create ones + synonym public
db_developper => all create ones except dblink, create
type,...
db_dba => everything
