If your machine expects you to be on the network, and you are not, it is possible that it is not starting all the networking services. (Those "minor" services like computer browser and server fail) This will screw up things like protocols. Also look in your device manager also and make sure that the network devices are not in error mode when not connected. The joys of working on Bill's virus OS ;-) Rodd Holman -----Original Message----- From: Rachel Carmichael [mailto:carmichr@hotmail.com] Sent: Thursday, December 21, 2000 11:41 AM To: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-L Subject: RE: so my boss insists on using oracle on NT sp6 logging onto the machine, the domain is not available. And I'm running sp5 not 6, it's Joe's boss who is on sp6 Tried lots of things.... shooting myself is not an option however. Since this is for me to play with, I haven't been too worried about it, gee I have to do other stuff instead :) Rachel >From: "Kevin Kostyszyn" >Reply-To: ORACLE-L@fatcity.com >To: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-L >Subject: RE: so my boss insists on using oracle on NT sp6 >Date: Thu, 21 Dec 2000 06:02:24 -0800 > >Rachel, > So basically, if your machine (with the database on it) is not connected >to >the network you can't connect to it's database, but once you put it on the >network you can connect to it?
