One of our DBAs seem to be encountering intermittent problems with having Async I/O on our raw devices. Problem encountered: ORA-27063 number of bytes read/written does not match original number. There are really no trace files or anything to go by. And the scenario is not reproducable on demand. The control file just gets corrupted. I believe they were trying to create the standby database or apply the redo logs with it. Something like that. Metalink's suggestion for a similar error was to take out async_io. This to me is just getting around the problem. We want async_io to speed up disk access. On our other databases we haven't encountered such a problem but then again it's only a development machine with not much happening with it. Also, we are using advfs. But I've been told by my the dba having problems with raw devices that async I/O should work in the same way regardless of whether we go raw or cooked. So, any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Leng. ===== Leng Kaing - lkaing@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Shopping - Thousands of Stores. Millions of Products.
