I would say send him on shell. Makes Perl much easier to learn. A good book will help him with that.

Hi...
 There is a new DBA in the team and the management wants to send him on a training course (for programming). As usual, the team is divided on whether to send him for a Perl or Shell course.

 What is your idea? Lots of new DBAs are in favor of Perl, as it is more versatile, but old DBAs are thinking Shell is universal and better for UNIX Oracle DBAs.

Can you please share your thoughts...
