We are in the test process of Replication. The environment is Windows 2000 Professional and Oracle 8i. (8.1.5)=20 After Installation we can not access the database. I have here provided the details. Please help us.

AT SQL+
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
ERROR:
ORA-12541: TNS:no listener

Got the following details from the document

TNS-12541 TNS:no listener

Cause: The connection request could not be completed because the = listener is not running.

Action: Ensure that the supplied destination address matches one of the =
addresses used by the listener. Compare the TNSNAMES.ORA entry with the =
appropriate LISTENER.ORA file (or TNSNAV.ORA if the connection is to go =
by way of an Interchange). Start the listener on the remote machine.

But Our TNSNAME.ORA address match with LISTENER.ORA.

At Listener Control

LSNRCTL> show current_listener=20
Current Listener is LISTENER

tnsping krishna
TNS-12541 TNS:no listener

We think Listener auto is also not woking in this case.

The error that has been in Listener log file is=20 TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
 TNS-00530: Protocol adapter error
32-bit Windows Error: 38: Filename too long

Is it windows OS error.
Our db file name is 8chr long. That is GXTESTDB. Is there any rules to have a db file name with in 4chr.

Thanks in advance.

with regards
sekar
