Looks like this may be replaced by the 8i Heterogenous Services. But, again, I have no direct experience with this. Try:

<< Hi,

Thanks for the information - I wasn't aware of this product and it sounds  very promising.

However, when I looked it up on Technet (at  http://technet.oracle.com/doc/forms45/f45at/ch14.htm) the manual stated that  it only supports Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, and Rdb. Has  anyone tried using it with other ODBC datasources?

Also, in a Metalink forum I found a reply from an Oracle employee (dated  14-Nov-2000) stating that the most recent Open Client Adaptor (OCA) version  "supports version 7.3 and 8.0, not 8i. There is no version of the OCA for  oracle 8i products."

Is anyone successfully using OCA with an 8i database?

If you're interested then Metalink Note:66481.1 gives some technical details  on using the OCA.

 Thanks,

You need to install Oracle Open Client Adaptor and then you can do this.  Only it is: select * from table_at_ODBC:datasource.

 Hi !

 I would like to access ODBC data from Oracle 8iR2 (NT4). // select * from  table_at_ODBC_DataSource //

 Is that possible ?
The Heterogeneous Services could be the solution for this? Received on Thu Nov 30 2000 - 17:17:01 CST
