RE: SQL Server2000 Vs Oracle 8i

The best thing I can think of as far as a comparison of the two would be the information that you can find at www.tpc.org. This is the Transaction Processing Council, and they do transaction benchmarking on all enterprise level database engines. You can look at the results of benchmarks of both Oracle and SQL Server there, as well as others, and do the comparisons yourself.

Good luck trying to get an official comparison -- Microsoft doesn't let anyone who purchases their software post benchmark results without their approval.

I haven't seen any Oracle vs. SQL Server comparisons on the 'net.

Microsoft, during Oracle Open World, threatened Oracle with a law suit if Larry Ellison didn't stop comparing SQL Server's performance with Oracle 9i's performance.
