Hi Lee,

Couldn't you do this:

  1. Create your rbs and keep it offline.
  2. Before starting your (is it batch?) processing, run a script to put the rbs online.
  3. Start your process, beginning with the SET TRANSACTION statement
  4. Immediately take the rbs offline

The process will continue to run and no other processes will be able to access this rbs, since it's offline. I remember reading this somewhere as a trick for batch processing but I've never used it.

All,  

Is there any method of tieing an individual user to a rollback segment to the exception of all others. I know about the set transaction thing but what I want is to avoid other users on the db using the one created for a specific task.
