Actually yes. Just a short quote from a really good book, "WORDS" by Victor Stevenson

"While this carefree culture was evolving in the south, the feeble successors of Charlemagne had to face the constant threat of raids by the formidable Norsemen. Charles the Simple (893-923) decided that the only solution was to offer the Viking chief Rollo a dukedom and allow his followers to settle there. Norsemen became Normans, and within the space of the tenth century learned to speak French as well as any Frank.

The Vikings were not in the habit of taking their wives along with them. The second generation of Normans mostly had French-speaking mothers but, brought up to the sea, held on to their old Norse nautical expressions. Among the few that have survived in modern French include havre 'haven' or 'harbour', as in Le Havre, vague in place of the Latin onde 'wave', and equipe, now applied to a football team and motor-racing stable, as well as to a ship's crew."

The Normans were from Normandy, which eventually became part of France, and Norsemen were from Norway (or that general area). Are you telling me Normandy was settled by Norwegians?
