OFFTOPIC - Over-time pay (WAS: How to put egg on your face)

Apparently there's a new law that got passed in California, USA that makes me unexempt as of 01-OCT-2000. Which means, I get paid by the hour.

This law applies to persons in the computer field that make below 85,000 k a year. I'm a few grand shy of that amount, but I will be making well over 100k (with overtime) with this new law. I foresee a salary increase in my near future.

You should have seen the look on my face when my boss and our HR person told me that they have to pay me by the hour and they wanted to know how many hours I worked overtime in the month of October so they can pay me for it. You should have seen the look on their face when I replied. ;)

I was wondering if anyone else out there is getting paid by the hour as a full time employee. From what I understand from our HR department, not all companies are enforcing this law which means they are leaving themselves open for a law suit.
