Sorry! Firewall, but everything is taking place behind it. No Oracle Names environment. We are on 7.3.4.4. No laughing! There is a very good reason we haven't upgraded.... it's just that management won't tell me.

=)

just can't logically accept the fact that this one lone machine takes 10 times longer to TNSPING the database when the PING times are the same as all the other clients. I even have other NT machines here (and Win95)... all the same except for this one.

Hey folks, got an interesting problem here... maybe I'm missing something so I need some help:
I have an NT machine that is acting as our reports server/OAS for a web reporting solution. This has performed terribly for us in many environments, but that is beside the point. Anyway, I can ping our server with excellent response times (<10 msec) from this NT machine. The problem is when I tnsping80 the instance, I get HORRIBLE times ( 5100 - 5300 msec). From any other client, I get response times from tnsping80 between 600-760 msec. It is just this one machine that is having the "problem". The tnsnames.ora files on this NT machine and the clients are the same.
Any thoughts, experiences, or suggestions?
