What type of operating system? You might try iostat on UNIX (unless you're using completely mixed RAID5)to determine which disks are getting the heaviest hits. Also try v$sysstat. This will give you an overview of statistics that you can use to do further research. Running utlbstat and utlestat against both instances for the same period will also get you some usage data.
