Trap any errors and scan them for ORA-01017 (Invalid username/password), or ORA-01034 (Oracle not available) etc.. If no ORA errors detected, then username/password are good and that the database is accessible. I am not aware of any other method to do this.. - Kirti > -----Original Message----- > From: Poosapati Varma [SMTP:psgkv@yahoo.com] > Sent: Tuesday, October 31, 2000 10:46 AM > To: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-L > Subject: userid & Password > > Hi guys, > > How do we check for the userid and password within the > database? > > Say for example i have a login screen on the client > machine running in VB when i grab the username and > password, How do i check with the username and > password within the database is there a way by oracle > to do that? > > Can anyone give me some tips on this. > > Varma Poosapati. > > __________________________________________________ > Do You Yahoo!? > Yahoo!
