My $0.01 worth comment is .. Since the GOP believes, it is not upto the Fed. Govt to run schools, it should be left to the parents etc...

I want the Fed. govt to give me money (Instead of Vouchers) and stop messing with all the Public and Private Schools. If the Governor believes in parental control and knowledge. I may teach my kids myself or may drink couple of pints of lager with that money.

A glass of beer is much better than my kids education to me. This whole thing sucks! I just hope a country with no Govt. like Afghanistan is much better and it is a true FREE country. Free of politicians who suck my money!

Just my thoughts...
Rama

Speaking generally, there are some things that are not well suited for the market and competition. One example are roads and highways, other example are schools. If you let the local communities run schools, you'll have evolution thrown out of schools in some parts of the country and the ones who would really suffer would be students. Ironically, Kansas is one of the greatest states for paleontologists and many dinosaur fossils have been uncovered in Kansas, of all states.

I don't know about your state, but Article X, Section 3 of the Wisconsin Constitution requires the State Legislature to establish district schools for every child between the ages of 4 and 20.

Eric,

I don't know how this thread got started, or where it's going, but since it showed up in my inbox, here's my $.02: Vouchers are a good start, but the real solution is no more public education. When did it become the government's job to run the schools? Did I miss that amendment to the constitution?
