Hi,

I'd like to know if there are differences in installing and managing Oracle in the 64 bits version besides the ability to have a bigger SGA.

We're currently on 8.1.6 (32bits)/Solaris 2.6 .

TIA

Hi,

I'm testing a password verification routine. It is working when connected as sys, but failed every time when connected as another user. I've adapted the verify_function function from utlpwdmg.sql script. The error message is "ORA-28003: password verification for the specified password failed" even when giving a good password.

I've created a dummy password verification routine which always return true and it's failing also when not connected as sys.

Anybody ?

TIA

Lee,

I think the consensus is to use Raid 0+1. Our sysadmin claims that our = disk cache is so large, that it doesn't really matter that we are using = Raid 5 (we are on Tru64 4.0d). I really don't have the hardware expertise = or the time to prove otherwise. I wouldn't mind hearing some comments on = that statement from other folks on the list as they reply to your = question. I am able to flood the cache during sqlloader runs, but other = that that, he seems to be correct.

I have seen various threads on the subject of Oracle and Raid but don't = have
any messages stored on the subject so forgive me for the repetition = factor.

Can someone provide a list of do's/don'ts, advantages/disadvantages of = using
various raid levels with Oracle (in this case 8) on a TRU64 4.0 platform. Database will be approx. 4Tb in size/
