I thought that Kay's reply was a valid one. He did not imply that Oracle Support told her "horse hockey", he merely stated that one could use the hidden parameter without any problems if one's database was shutdown with immediate or normal.

Furthermore, it is ok for Winnie to perform a recovery scenario that will place her database in unsupported mode as long as she performs the necessary tasks to get her database supported again, which can be done (by her own words) with an Export.

I'll give you the benefit of doubt by assuming that you haven't had your morning coffee. ;)
