The dll looks for the \network directory - in oracle8 they renamed the directory to net80. (I got it to work - sometimes - by making a copy of net80 in a network directory). In 8.1 it's back to network.

Thanks for the reply but I found the problem. The Oracle 2.5 driver obviously will run over
sql*net 2.3.4 and not NET 8. I do not understand that because I installed everything from the
Oracle 8 CD. I installed sql*net 2.3.4 and it works.
