Multiple databases with same data to solve ORA-1555's ?

Hey there dba's:

We have a database that is used by several hundred OLTP users and a = handful of DSS users that abuse the database with long and large queries. = The problem we are running into is recurring ORA-1555's.=20

I am wondering if it is a reasonable solution to create a reporting = database but instead of a separate copy of the data, using dblinks to the = main database? The server has enough power to run both databases and = since they would be on the same box, I don't imagine the perfomance would = be too bad. =20

Any thoughts?
