I think that perhaps you are thinking of "alter database open resetlogs" ?

Hi Shahid

Of course you can do standard incomplete recovery 'until cancel', but ...

I know there is a hidden parameter which allows you to open database without current redo logs. I can't remember the exact name at the moment (I'm sure, other guys will help). Please, note! I didn't do it before, but I believe you can open DB and recreate your redo logs. You have to do whole backup before !

Please, correct me if I'm wrong. Any comments??

Ed

Guys,
I have to restore a database without redolog files. The database is in archivelog mode. Please advise on the steps to take for point in time recovery.

Thanks.
Shahid.
