Transactions in memory (on the OS level) were not able to write to Disk, thus causing a data integrity problem. Having a Mirror setup would not help you in this case. (Properly) Mirrored disk will protect you from: Disk Access route failure, Controller failure, disk bus failure, bad blocks on hard drives, hard drive failure, power failure, etc.
