RE: Shutdown immediate hangs.

Lee,

We had a similar problem (NT Platform) with one of our databases and discovered that it was the Intelligent Agent (as Eric Lansu also mentioned) which prevented the shutdown. We then started to stop the Intelligent Agent Service before shutting down the database, and restarting it after our backups were completed and the database was re-started. This resolved the problem.

The database won't go down if there is an Intelligent Agent or some process like this running. The easiest way to shutdown is with abort etc...
