load balancing

Someone had suggested load balancing products for oracle on the list previously. If someone could offer up suggestions again it would be great. I have some really heavy queries and instead of investing a pile in parallel server I would like to have two identical read-only databases that can have the user load balanced between them. I thought using an Alteon would be good but I don't think it can recognize if a database is down. So it might continue to send users to it. The tnsnames option seems laim. If one db is down you have quite a delay before it hits the other database, no thanks.

Any help is appreciated, Dave Turner Received on Fri Oct 06 2000 - 18:12:47 CDT
