RE: Connection Problem

Sanjay,

• SQL*Net takes the connection string on the client and looks it up in your client's tnsnames.ora for mapping information.
• Then it goes to the HOST address (defined in the clients tnsnames.ora) to find that host's listener.
• Finally it uses the SID (from the client tnsnames.ora) and connects to it using the host's listener.

Can you successfully 'tnsping' your Unix database from your Unix server? If not, then your solution could be in your SQL*Net on your server side.
