Edit the sqlnet.ora file on the client and change the following parameter

from:-

sqlnet.authentication_services = (NTS)

to:-

sqlnet.authentication_services = (NONE)

Having a brain fart right now. I'm trying to help someone on the phone log into their database as administrator and the keep getting this error with every application the are trying to use to log on (svrmgrl, sqlplus,dba studio). The error is ORA-12638 credential retrieval failed. The os is NT and oracle version 8.1.6. Does any know what is going on or can they help me out. Thanks in advanced.
