If the cost of living is low , then the salary is about right. Same deal with comparing a Midwest salary to an east coast salary My family and I are going over in November to Sydney. Can't wait! Any cool suggestions of places to go in Melbourne, Great barrier Reef, Mt Warning, and Sydney area _offline_ ( hang gliding, or water skiing especially) are greatly appreciated :-) Grin, Heidi "Carle, William T To: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-L (Bill), NBSO" Subject: RE: DBA's salary range for Down Sent by: Under root@fatcity. com 09/27/00 10:17 AM Please respond to ORACLE-L Is that Aussie dollars? If so, based on the current exchange rate of .5786 US dollars to 1 Aussie dollar, that would be $46,288 per year American. From what I understand, 80K is about right for an "average" Oracle DBA in Sydney, and a bit more in Melbourne. To put that in context, the average income for wage and salary earners is about 42K. @ Regards, @ Steve Adams @ http://www.ixora.com.au/ @ http://www.christianity.net.au/ @ @ Going to OpenWorld? @ Catch the Ixora performance tuning seminar too! @ See http://www.ixora.com.au/seminars/ for details. -----Original Message----- Sent: Wednesday, 27 September 2000 19:26 To: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-L Hi I guess it would depend on experience. I somehow get the feeling that there are not many DBA's in Australia as one would expect. Not too many DBA's on this user group for one except the brilliant Mr Steve Adams. I also get a feeling that there are not too many Oracle DBA positions as well. Could someone also share some light on this. I would think that the salary of a permanent Oracle DBA in Sydney with about 3 years Oracle experience is about 80K.
