Dear VERITE Nicolas,
Compatible parameter is useful when you want to use the maintenance features of the new release and still your production systems (application programs) are not affected. This way you tell the Oracle server to behave like a previous version from an application point of view.
This parameter defaults to the earliest version of your server with which compatability can be garunteed.
