Restoring tables/tablespaces

One of our users left the university. The termination procedures require that all computer accounts are closed, so HR notifies the Help Desk who in turn checks and deletes all accounts owned by that person. So they did.

Unfortunately, this person was doing some heavy work in Oracle. His default tablespace was the 'users' tablespace, and by default all his important stuff was created in this tablespace, with him as the owner. So now, all the jobs running in 'datastage' are failing of course.

No one else has anything of importance in the 'users' tablespace, so this tablespace might be restored to a previous state without problem.

My question to the list is: Is it possible to restore a tablespace from tape without affecting the database as a whole? We'll need to recover all objects owned by this person.

We're on a Sun Solaris 2.6 box, Oracle 8.0.5.2.1. The database is in no archive log mode. We shut down the database at 12:00 am, and restart it at 2:00am every day to do backup. We're backing up the file system, not using any Oracle backup procedures.

Thanks.
