My understanding is export format is independent on the O/S and hardware. You need to make sure to use binary mode during the FTP process. I have transferred many export files from one O/S to the other without a problem (Oracle 7.x).

I have database 8.1.6 on Sun box and we need to send export of one of the schemas to guys in Pakistan. They have database 8.1.6 on Linux. They cannot do client-server export/import - thei connection is very slow. My understanding is that symply douing export on Sun and then ftp-ing to them will not work and Linux import will not work with Sun export. Am I right and if there any ways to do it?
