Tom,
You can query view v$controlfile_record_Section, column
RECORDS_TOTAL. Type DATAFILE is for MAXDATAFILES, REDO LOG is
for MAXLOGFILES, LOG HISTORY is for MAXLOGHISTORY, REDO THREAD
for MAXINSTANCES. Sorry, could not locate anything for
MAXLOGMEMBERS.
BTW, I'm on 8.1.6 and have not checked this for earlier
versions.
