File Size on OS & v$datafile Differ ?

ls -al of a Datafile on the Unix O.S. prompt shows a File Size which DIFFERS
from the "BYTES" Size shown in v$datafile (oe sys.dba_data_files .



Why ?



To what MAX Limit can they Differ ?
