what kind of box do u plan 2 run ur db on.. generally the way web db's work is that there is a application server which spawns mts like connections. we use web logic for connection pooling. we have like upto 60 or so WL pools .. with each pool comprising of around 50 connections. our db processes is configures to 3000.

so application on the web browser are basically serviced by these open connections with WL and these are obviously reused as and when they become free ..

our db is on hitachi raid 0+1 arrays. the instances are on clustered sun boxes.(models vary from 6500 to 250's based on traffic estimates)
