You probably have more than one Oracle Home on your desktop machine. The Tnsnames.ora file that corresponds to the OEM oracle home is that one that isn't set up. (listener.ora and the intellegent agent are for the database server) chaim

Hi.

I hate to tell you this, but it isn't reading it from my listner.ora fi= le,
it also doesn't read it from my oem/net80/admin's listner.ora file eith= er as
I have copied it into both directories.
The tricky bit here is that I am still connecting via sqlplus via to m= y
database.

I downloaded the latest version of OEM, its 2.1 and that now doesn't ha= ve a
net80/admin directory, so it couldn't of been in there. On the latest version, it has a sqlplus component (don't ask me why?), = and I
cannot connect with OEM's sqlplus, but yet from my database directories=  I
can...

Weird!!!

I think it has something to do with the intelligent agent on my 2000 cl= ient
machine, which I cannot get started.
On the LSNRCTL command line I type in dbsnmp_status, and it returns tha= t the
subagent is not running, I try to start it with dbsnmp_start and it doe= sn't
start, but it also doesn't give me any errors.

Any suggestions?

Clint

That's correct.OEM takes input from listerner.ora.

Hi all.

I am battling with OEM, I am currently running the console on version 2= .0.4
on a Windows 2000 pro box.
The Oracle db is version 8.1.5 on a Solaris SunOS 5.8. The repository i= s
also on the Sun box.

I can connect 100% through sqlplus as well as onto the database from th= e
console.
I have even run a successful export from the console. However when tryi= ng to
run a point product (Tablespace Manager etc) it gives me the error ORA -12154 : TNS could not resolve service name.

My question is where does OEM read its TNS names from? Its impossible to get this to work without know this.

Thanks

Clint
