This goes without saying, but keep close notes on every change you make = to
that system, in case you have to backtrack.

Especially if you plan to migrate the Oracle7 database to 8i.

Also do a full export of your database(s) in conventional mode before = you do
anything else.

For the copy of 8i I have here (8.1.5.0.0), the migration utility did = not
work properly and every time we had to re-create the Oracle7 database entirely.

In the end we ended up importing the Oracle7 database into 8i, we = bypassed
the migration utility altogether.

This was just on a test machine, thank goodness.

	Yes, it's possible. You just need to set-up the
	correct ORACLE environment (ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID
	etc), when logging-in.
