My understanding that question was how to export data from 7.3 on Solaris to 8.0.4 on NT.
The best thing is to have the same version on NT that you have on Solaris and do export from 7.3 on Solaris using NT 7.3 export thru the network and import from this file using 8.0.4 export. I had a problem to export from 8.1.6 on linux and export to 8.1.6.2 on solaris. 8.1.6.2 export did not work with 8.1.6 on linux, so I had to reinstall 8.1.6 on solaris, make an export using 8.1.6 export and import using 8.1.6.2.

Upgrade solaris version, now that is said,

how do you propose if you've used ANY 8.0 features that oracle will be able to pull in a 8.0 .dmp file?

if i remember correctly oracle will guarantee upward compatibility but NOT downwards. There was WAY too much that changed between 7 and 8.

the best you could hope for would be to do the export on solaris using the v7 exp command, shooting across the network(i'll assume these machines can see each other) and then hoping it dont choke on some 8 feature you've used, like partitioning, etc.

good luck.
