Hi Michael,

Are you aware of the blocking problems associated with ITL entry shortages? If not, it is described in my book and on the Ixora web site at http://www.ixora.com.au/q+a/locks.htm.

We are now listing records by row id so we can tell which records are in the same blocks. We have 'some" consistency on the problem.

If we pick up a single block and we lock record 1, then 2, then 3, the forth lock fails. If we lock record 1, then 16, then 23, we can't lock 26.... Again the fourth one.

But it appears we can lock much more than that, if they are on different blocks. There is approximately 35 records per block.

I found rollback segments to be low, so I added about 8 more, and they are doing more testing. Haven't heard back so far.
