OEM Import Wizard Task

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Can you help? I have created an export file on our mainframe and put on a floppy. I am now trying to import it into an Oracle 8i instance on an NT server using OEMs import wizard. I have successfully managed to import the file using the MSDOS version of import so I know it should work OK.

When I try to create a job to do the import, I specify an import task and then click on the parameters tab of the import task. I then have to click on the details butt on and another dialog comes up asking me for the name of the import file. I do not seem to be given the option to specify the parameter file. So I hopefully click on the next button, only to find that this promptly launches an internal job to do the import.

This eventually aborts with 'IMP 00058 Oracle error 12158 encountered' which means 'TNS:could not resolve service name'.

So I have 2 problems.

  1. I am unable to create and save a job to do an import without executing some internal job.
  2. I am unable to specify any parameters to the import job so I'm not surprised it cannot find the database in which to import.

The documentation is no help at all, neither the administrators guide (page 4-24) , which refers you to the online help nor the online help which doesn't mention an import parameter file.

Any help appreciated.

Mark Leith
