Hi list,

I have two questions :

  1. For unix (solaris 2.6) machine, which one is better (or no difference) for file system mount point : 1 X 200 Gb or 5 X 40 Gb ?
  2. For 10 Gb tablespace, which one is better for datafiles : 5 X 2Gb or 10 X 1Gb ?

Thanks for any clue.

Is there a mailing list Archive out here somewhere? Where is it because I got a great tip the other day and I have since deleted it. I really need to get it back!

 Subject: Migration from HP-UX 10.20 to HP-UX 11 and Oracle 7.3.4 to 8i

Hi Gurus

I need expert guidance for our future move to HP-UX 11 from HP-UX 10.20.

Existing setup:
Platform HP
HP-UX 10.20
Oracle 7.3.4.5
Oracle Financials 10.7(Char) with Oracle Manufacturing/Bill Of Materials Customized forms(2.3) and reports(2.5)

Future Move:
Platform HP
New Machine
HP-UX 11
Oracle 8.1.6
Oracle Financials Release 11i
Conversion of Customized Forms & Reports to Forms/Reports 6i

Please advise your experience or opinion to carry out above migration smoothly as Oracle Support guidance is so far contradictory.

Regards
Rafiq

It's funny how people can claim so many years of experience that don't quite add up. We have a guy here who claims to have over 10 years of software development experience (involving Oracle) and flaunts it. He's barely past 30 and graduated from college with an accounting degree and worked as an accountant for 6 years after that. At most he probably has half that. You figure it out for yourself.

LOL...
In my previous job our Damagement hired a guy as my boss (in later part of 1995) who claimed to have had worked in UNIX and Oracle environment for over 22 years...
He was subsequently fired in Jan 1996.. I still wonder why ;-)
