Folks,

I hate to be mundane, but there is a sysadmn here that might be interested in finding out if there is going to be anything introductory (but useful) on building a classic client-server Linux/Oracle8 database at the conference. Does anyone know?

If you have a chance (I don't know if the baseball season will still be on at the time, sorry), go see a Giants baseball game at their new ball park. Even if the season is over, or you can't get tickets for any playoffs games that are going on at the time, a (hopefully free) tour might be worthwhile, there are great views of the bay and downtown from the upper decks.

Very cool guys (Dusty can spit sunflower seeds with a toothpick on his mouth) : http://sfgiants.com/team/staff/sfg_dbaker.cfm , http://sfgiants.com/team/players/sfg_playerpage.cfm?player_id=16741

(The muni train runs right in front of the ball park. )

Anyway, has anyone else heard rumors that Larry Ellison will personally do a "hands on" seminar on how to virtually decapitate industry competitors in cyberspace, samurai style? Apparently they want OCP people to get in the right mood for job interviews or something. :)

BTW, the "demographics" given on the Openworld web page seem interesting if they at all reflect productive elements of Oracle's actual customer base. if I'm reading right, the workplace sectors represented (by attendees) at the top are:

  consulting&education + retail&services = 44% Received on Thu Aug 31 2000 - 14:15:22 CDT
