Kristen,

I've been using Instance Monitor (obviously I need to update the product) for about six months now. I couldn't justify to myself the cost of spacewatch, etc., but after using Instance Monitor I realized that while I COULD generate my own tools to do this (and have for Informix), it would take me a long time and they would be nowhere near as well integrated.

There are many things I would change, but overall it has been a very useful tool and has helped me tune our production database much more quickly than would otherwise have been possible. Since we use PeopleSoft, tuning is a very important, in fact critical, thing. It has also pointed up how poorly some of the PeopleSoft queries are written -- not that there is much I can do about that except agonize over it.

All in all, I would say it has been worth the money, though I do still agonize over the cost sometimes.
