More to the subject I had unpleasant surprise when I tried do export import
from from 8.1.6 on linux to 8.1.6.2 on solaris using 8.1.6.2 solaris export
and import.
Export gave me errors. I had to reinstall 8.1.6 on solaris, make export from
8.1.6 on linux using 8.1.6 export from solaris and then import into 8.1.6.2
on solaris using 8.1.6.2 import on solaris.

Yes, it is possible. You should run catexp7 script to create v7-style views for export/import. Unfortunately, I don't remember details, check oracle doc. You probably have to do the export again.
