Hi Magesh,

Just replace the word REUSE with SET in the CREATE CONTROLFILE command. e.g the command shd look like:

CREATE CONTROLFILE set DATABASE "ORA8" RESETLOGS.........

HTH ,
Rajesh

Hi Gopal,

Thanx for you suggestion .You are right i am trying to recreate the control file.
While running the .sql file , i am getting errors like this ....

ORA-01503 : Create controlfile failed
ORA-01161 :database name ORCL in file header does not match given name of ORA8.
ORA-01110 : datafile 1 : '/u01/oradata/ORCL/system01.dbf '

Actually ..I am trying to do renaming the oracle Instance of development database.
from ORCL to ORA8 ,

Any suggestion please

Thanx
Magesh

Hi !

What trace file?
What do you want to do?

Are you trying to recreate the control file? If YES edit the trace file (remove the comments and save as .sql) and run from SVRMGR or SQL Plus
