Hey, 4.1.0 came on "lots" of 360k floppies and actually ran under 512K...

It was VERY shortly after that you needed 640K... Then extended or was it expanded memory....

We ran about 10-15 users on a VAX 750 with about 512 or 768K memory.... coming from a mainframe environment with 64K, I thought the VAX was a hog...

In another job I also ran 5.x and 6.0 under 16M on VM/SP HPO and ran about 50-75 users. Ran a test bed under Apple Unix, what ever that was called, and SCO, and NCR, and RISC 6000.... Had either the world's or US's largest DISTRIBUTED Oracle Office install.... about 4-5,000 users and 41 "Post Offices"... all running on a state wide frame relay network. The main database was about 14.6 gig when most were lucky to have 300 meg.

Can remember when we bought our first Unix box to replace the mainframe because it could run Oracle. It actually became the Oracle Office server... Development staff was working "third shift" because they would "slow down email" if they did development during the day. Management was toasting the "death of the mainframe" which was still running about 60% busy Monday through Friday.... They did finally pull the mainframe plug last January or so, about 4 years later... I had long before abandoned ship....

They bought 4 NCR 5100s to replace the mainframe....

Maks.
