I totally agree... just copying the datafiles does NOT move a tablespace... if you are running Oracle8 you could have used the transportable tablespace functionality to move the tablespace.

however, at this point, I truly hope that that database either had really good backups, or was a test database. Because if not, you have just destroyed your production database.... with no hope of recovering that data.

I truly would suggest a class in Oracle database administration, or reading any of the many Oracle books out there, or at the very least, reading the Oracle manuals.

and if that was indeed a production database, you might consider updating your resume.
