Hello dear listers,

Last 3 nights I have been busy rebuilding a machine for Oracle. It was a = system with tablespace-striping over different disks / controllers, and = I rebuild it to 10 disks without striping 4 disks have application data. = there is are seperate disks for system, rollback, temp and archive. the = datafiles are IO-balanced over the application-data-disks. I applyed the = tricks of uniform-sized extents, seperarate mountpoint for every disk = etc.

There is running a night-process always taking 3 hours to complete. Now, after rebuild, it is 45 minutes! Same machine, same amount of = disks, memory etc., just the way it is divided over the system. =20

I'm very tired, and off for a 2-week vacation in a couple of hours.

May the database be with you, but I leave it in the office ;-) Eric Lansu
