Dear all,
can we split a dmp file by using the split command if the file size is = too
big to be used by ftp.
as it is taking too much time to get transfer from Unix server to NT server.

Subject: Re: Unix : How to cut a file into pieces?

use combinations of head and tail and re-direct the output

head -10000 filename>filename2 puts 1st 10000 lines into filen= ame2
tail +10001 filename|head -10000>filename3 puts next 10000 lines into filename3

etc....see man pages for more info
