Hi Janardhan Babu,

Even we had very similar problem, when we upgraded to HP/UX 11.0 64bit. We were getting >error 27: File too large.

We were in touch with Oracle and HP. After that we had to apply close to 11 Patches on HP Unix,
related to Large files. Large files were not implemented properly on the Unix.
HP Guys directed us to a set of documentation files (.txt files) on the UX system to implement the large file systems. After taking care of the same, it started working fine.

SA's checked the implementation of large files by doing some file open() functions on the large files on the UX system, then we started the Instance, after we were assured that the UNIX was able to open the large files.

Thanks,
Srinivas Katta

I have not run into any problems in 816 so far probably because Iam using 2GB datafiles in the test databases so far. I have a necessity to get the data from 816 database and import into 815 database and so I got all the problems. We are also on HP/UX 11.0 64bit. Some of my collegues are facing problems after upgrading to 816, probably they are using 5GB datafiles on the production databases. Iam attaching the messsage below about the problems they are facing. I too would be waiting for their problem to be solved before I upgrade my production databases to 816 as I too am using 5GB datafiles for production. If anybody knows the solution how to solve the below mentioned 816 problem, please let us know. It would be appreciated.

Hello everyone -

I've seen a lot of talk about downgrading back to 8.1.5. May I ask what problems you ran into that made the downgrade necessary? I am interested in any comments or war stories anyone may have. We are looking at doing this in the next month or so - someone here is really bent out of shape about not having full DBMS_UTILITY functionality. That's his main reason for upgrading. We are HP/UX 11.0 64bit.

Thanks in advance...
