Internal does not require a password. It is typically only allowed to be = issued by the account that installed the oracle server software.

SVRMGRL
CONNECT INTERNAL
ALTER USER SYS IDENTIFIED BY XXXXX;
EXIT
>>> "B, Ravindra" <Ravindra.B_at_compaq.com> 07/19/00 08:08AM >>>
The customer is running oracle 8.1.5 on Digital unix 4.0f.And as far as I know that he had not defined any password for internal user.

It is just - you need to know internal password and you can change all = other
password once you connected to it.

Even if suppose you don't know internal password, you can recreate = password
file by using orapwd utility.

Which version you are using, and on which platform???

If you are using Oracle 7.3.4 on NT, then you can create an entry in registry as -
DBA_AUTHORIZATION and its value as - BYPASS

When you will connect from server manager on the srever, it won't ask you for internal password and you can change all passwords which you want.
