Ram...

Two things. One is that you can be either the user who started X-windows, *OR* root, and I try to avoid using root unless it's necessary. The second is that doing 'xhost +' opens your x display to *THE WORLD* literally. Beyond the fact that anyone on the internet can start and x program and display it on your machine, there are other serious security issues related to doing this, and it's definitely not recommended.
