Ruth,
No, you don't need separate recovery catalogs. I have several RMAN users in a single recovery catalog database. It was recommended by an Oracle techie, but I can't remember the reasons. It seems to make sense, though. I had a database I used for testing various backup strategies, and when I was done I deleted the test database and dropped it's corresponding rman user in the catalog database. I haven't used the reporting options in the recovery catalog, but I wonder if that's another place it makes sense... Debi
