Hello,

A question regarding Oracle and Solaris O/S settings.

Stack execution is required by some applications in order to work properly. However, if the stack is executable, the system is vulnerable to buffer overflow exploits. In Solaris, stack execution can be turned off by adding the following line to /etc/system:

set noexec_user_stack=1

I would like to set this on several of our Sun servers. Does Oracle require stack execution in order to run (I don't think so)? Does Oracle require and kind of modifications in order to run on a system with stack execution turned off?

Thanks.

Why is it that when you're driving and looking for an address, you turn down the volume on the radio? Received on Wed Jul 12 2000 - 20:44:00 CDT
